Thanks for checking out my blog and hopefully what I sell!
I know the price of crochet items can be daunting. I wish I could make everything for $20 for you, but it wouldn't be fair to me as a worker! These pieces are investments and I just wanted to explain why I price things the way I do.
First thing to remember about crochet is that it is an act of love. You cannot crochet with a machine (only knit) and so it has to be made by hand. This takes precious time! It takes me between 10-20 hours to make one sweater. And it's something I enjoy, and I love seeing you all wear what I am able to create. But that's a part time job right there! Colorado's minimum wage is around $14/ hour. Federal minimum wage is about half that. While I do not consider myself to be a beginner when it comes to crochet, I do charge myself somewhere between federal and Colorado minimum wage for my crochet items to make sure they are affordable while still being worth it for my time.
Let's say this were a real part time job though. As I am not an entry level "worker" I would be expecting to receive around $20/ hour for my skill level and expertise, which would make a sweater range from $200-$400! And I know there are people out there who understand that and are willing to pay for my crochet skills, but I do want my products to be accessible as well.
Anyways, know that I love making things for you and will do my best to make sure it is worth your money and my time. Hope this helps as you consider purchasing from me!
